*CARMONA FLAMENCO* (Rubina, cante; Marcos, guitar; David, cajon)
The Carmonas have appeared in Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia, Alicante, and Huelva, as well as San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, B.C., Portland, Tampa, and Los Angeles. As founders of Flamenco Arts Northwest (FANW) In 1996, Marcos and Rubina Carmona have taught and nurtured the flamenco arts in the Pacific Northwest, offering year-round classes in dance, guitar, song, and cajon (the Peruvian box-drum mastered and played by their son David). They have presented numerous perfomances, showcasing their advanced students, and yearly dance workshops with guest teachers invited from throughout the U.S. and Spain.
*ANA MONTES*
Known as one of the West Coast’s foremost female flamenco dancers Ana Montes has been acclaimed as powerful and charismatic, a monster with rhythm, moving with grace and elegance while at the same time containing that tension and passion which makes flamenco so exciting. Dancing since the age of 9, and trained in classical ballet, she began her flamenco studies in Sevilla, Spain, continued with Angelita Vargas and José Galván, and in Madrid at the famous dance studio Amor de Dios with many of the most respected flamenco teachers and artists including El Ciro, La Tati, El Güito and Merche Esmeralda. She also studied the Spanish folkdance “Jota Aragonesa” with the famous Pedro Azorín.
She danced professionally in Spain, Europe and Mexico for 7 years, dancing with the Ballet Español del Camborio, the Ballet Español de Fernando Romero, and El Burrero Peña Flamenca in Madrid. Ana performs and teaches in Seattle, and is artistic director of her performing student group Flamenco Danzarte.

Vicente Griego El Cartucho from Dixon/Embudo, New Mexico has devoted his life to the study of cante flamenco, the art of flamenco singing. In 1992, Vicente began touring the US, Canada and Latin America, with the Jose Greco II Flamenco Dance Company, where he was mentored by Cao Roto singer, Alfonso Veneno of Madrid, Spain. Vicente remains a pupil of acclaimed guitarist, Chuscales and continues to accompany internationally renowned companies such as; Yjastros, Juan Siddi Flamenco Company, Carola Zertuche’s Teatro Flamenco, Martinez’ Pueblo Viejo, Fanny Ara, Jesus Montoya y Pureza Flamenca and Encuentro, to name a few.
Vicente Griego El Cartucho is striking for his deep, sonorous wails that seem to come from a cavern, someplace deep within his soul…
