Posting Guidelines
The Seattle Flamenco Shows, Events, and Classes pages are a community information source for upcoming flamenco happenings in the Seattle area. Anyone is free to post here, but if you’re posting an event that is not your own, you should check with the event organizers first to make sure you’re not upsetting some carefully laid plan of their own. When you do post, please keep in mind the following guidelines:
- Multiple announcements are fine, but duplicate listings should be neither a.) in the same calendar month, nor b.) in the same two week period. Weekly show dates, for example, should be posted on a monthly basis. This is in order to keep the Shows page from being overloaded with duplicate information.
. - Content should be related to flamenco shows in Seattle and in the surrounding communities. (Think Olympia to Bellingham — but not Vancouver, BC or Portland, OR)
. - You can title your post however you like, but please begin your title with the date of your show or event or the (unless it’s a weekly date or an ongoing class). This will make it easier for visitors to see which posts are current, upcoming, or just passed. See the “Recent Posts” sidebar, for example.
.- For consistency, please use the date format “month day” with a three letter month abbreviation (for example “Jan 5:” or “Mar 12:”).
. - Please limit your post titles to no more than two lines of text. Post titles are meant to be headlines, not detailed accounts.
.
- For consistency, please use the date format “month day” with a three letter month abbreviation (for example “Jan 5:” or “Mar 12:”).
- Keep in mind that ALL CAPS is the internet equivalent of shouting on the internet. If you want to draw extra attention to your post (and who wouldn’t!), try adding an image — there are some great examples of this in these listings already.
. - As of the 2011 site update, all posts must be approved by the site administrator before going “live.” This change is intended to increase editorial consistency across posts, to eliminate duplication of posts in Facebook and Twitter feeds, to eliminate miscategorized posts, and to ensure that metadata (post tags) are applied appropriately. In general, as a poster, the more closely your posts adhere to the guidelines above (and the conventions in place throughout the site) the more quickly they will be approved.

- Log in to WordPress. If it is your first time logging in, click on the “Register” link in the right sidebar of the Seattle Flamenco Shows, Events, or Classes page. This will take you to the WordPress registration page. Enter a user name and your email address. An automatically generated password will be emailed to you. (You can change the password once you’re logged in — and don’t worry, your email address won’t be used for anything else). If you already have a user name and password, just click on “Log in” and enter your information in the form that comes up.
. - Once you have logged into WordPress, you will see a “Dashboard” page. Click on the “Posts” link in the upper left hand corner of the page and click on “Add New.”
. -
Write your post. Don’t forget to title it! To add a picture, press the “upload/insert” button just above the editing bar (click on the image at right to see a larger picture of where to find the “insert an image” button).
Select the category in which your post should appear (Shows/Events/Classes — categories are located in the right-had sidebar) and then add some “tags” (these could be your name, the venue, or any other particular identifying keyword — tags are also located in the right sidebar).
. - Click on “Preview” to make sure it looks the way you want it to, then click on “Submit for Review” to queue your post. In general, new posts will be reviewed and published within a few days (though depending on the day, it may be much faster than that).
If you have any questions about these guidelines or instructions, feel free to email the SeattleFlamenco.org administrator or post your comment/question in the “Reply” field below:
