Arte Flamenco
is proud to present Luis de la Tota from Jerez, Spain in a special one night only show on Friday January 13th, 2012.

Luis, born and raised in one of the oldest gypsy neighborhoods, Barrio de Santiago, began his career as a percussionist at the age of 8. He has performed and toured with many great Flamenco artists known to us, such as Antonio del Pipa, Fernando de la Morena,El Capullo, Moraito, Diego Carrasco, Angelita Vargas and has come to the Bay Area with Maria “Chacha” Bermudez several times. As a lyricist, his letras have been recorded widely and as a percussionist, he can be heard on many CDs. Joining Arte Flamenco onstage  is also Estefania, who resides in Jerez .

Winter/Spring 2012: Flamenco Dance with Rubina Carmona

On January 5, 2012, Rubina Carmona will be starting new intermediate/advanced choreographies at American Dance Institute, 8007 Greenwood Ave. N. Rubina will be teaching Bamberas at 6 pm and Farruca at 7.

New classes for beginners will start the first week of February with Sevillanas at 6 and Tango de Malaga at 7.

Dec 11: La Peña Flamenca de Seattle’s “Fiesta Navideña”

It’s time to ring in the holiday season with La Peña Flamenca de Seattle. Presented by Flamenco Arts Northwest and under the direction of Rubina Carmona, this is the Peña’s annual holiday concert, “Fiesta Navideña.”

Come out to the Erickson Theater (just off Broadway on Capitol Hill)  and enjoy Spanish Christmas music, Sephardic music, and new works of choreography including Tarantos and Cantiñas.

Fiesta Navideña features Seattle’s Markus Kolb and Gustavo Lopez on guitar; percussionist Steve Roy, vocalists Rubina Carmona, Stephanie Hughes, and Kristin Clingan; and dancers Solita Locsin, Nancy Fetch, Rachel Sprague, Kristin Clingan, Julianna Jones, Janette MacKay and Patricia Oats.
